Baby Led Weaning Gear

Right around the time Audrey turned 5 months old, our pediatrician gave us the green light to start solids with her. I had been really looking forward to this stage so I was so excited to get started! I did a little shopping and found some really cool items to help make Baby Led Weaning go as smoothly as possible for Audrey & I. So today I am sharing with you some of our favorite Baby Led Weaning gear.

A quick note- The products I mention in this post will be helpful for both baby-led weaning and if you plan to start with purees. You definitely don’t have to only use the baby-led weaning method to enjoy these products. The ultimate goal, I believe, is to get your baby self-feeding safely and these products will help with that regardless of the method you choose.

BABY LED WEANING GEAR

SpaceSaver High Chair: I love this high chair! Just strap this onto one of your kitchen chairs and you’re good to go! The dishwasher safe tray comes off easily with one hand. That is especially helpful when you’re holding the baby in one hand and trying to get the tray off with the other. The cover is super easy to put on and off and is machine washable. The chair reclines and has two different heights to make eating comfortable for your baby. I love that this can be converted to a booster seat for when Audrey is older. No need to buy multiple high chairs as the kiddos grow!

ezpz Mini Mat: Audrey isn’t eating a ton of food yet so this suction mat is a perfect size. The mat is dishwasher and microwave safe. The suction mat comes with a ziplock storage back that makes it super handy to throw in the diaper bag for eating out. We will grab the larger version when she is eating more at mealtimes. And if you need a bowl, ezpz mini bowl is a great option!

ezpz Tiny Cup: This is a really great cup to help your baby learn to drink from an open cup. It is small enough and designed to fit your baby’s mouth and hands. The soft silicone protects your baby’s developing teeth and the non-slip silicone grip makes movements to the mouth more successful. The weighted base and tactile bumps provide topple resistance.

Munchkin Miracle 360 Cup: This cup was recommended to us by a few friends and after using it the first time I can totally see why. It’s super easy for babies to use- allowing them to drink from anywhere on the rim. It’s leakproof which is a must when using cups on the go. And lifting the cup to their mouth to drink will help them as they learn to drink from an open cup. I love that there aren’t tons of pieces so it’s super easy to clean.

NumNum Spoon: These spoons are genius! I remember how long it took the boys to figure out spoons and I really wish we would have had these! These spoons are flat so there is no “wrong” way to hold them. Audrey LOVED these when I first gave them to her! She also really loves chewing on them when her gums hurt.

Grabease Utensils: These short, ergonomically shaped handles help babies learn to feed themselves.

BapronBaby Bib: These bibs are by far my favorite! They’re bigger so they cover and protect more of the baby’s clothes than a traditional bib does. This bib folds up super small to easily throw in the diaper bag. They are stain-resistant, tie around the back instead of the neck, fit up to 3T, and come in TONS of super cute prints. The Taco Party is obviously my favorite 🙂 We stuck a command hook to the back of our high chair to hang out bibs.

Suction Silicone Bowl: This bowl won’t tip, is designed with edges to help the baby scoop their food themselves. And it has a non-slip suction bottom so the bowl will stay in place as your baby scoops.

There you have it- my favorite Baby Led Weaning Gear. Did you do baby-led weaning with your baby’s or traditional weaning? Let me know in the comments below what products helped your baby or toddler learn to self-feed.
