What’s In My Newborn Diaper Bag

I thought for sure I would know exactly what I would need when it came time to pack Audrey’s diaper bag since she’s our third baby. But I still found myself clueless as to what I was going to need for her. Of course diapers and wipes but- what else?! After a couple of weeks of using a diaper bag again, packing and repacking, I finally got the hang of what exactly I needed for our newborn baby. So today I am sharing what’s in my newborn diaper bag.

WHAT’S IN MY NEWBORN DIAPER BAG

Huggies Diapers: We loved Huggies diapers for the boys and I am happy to report that they have been working out great for Audrey, too. I like to keep 4-6 diapers in my bag at all times. I am rarely out long enough to need all six diapers, but babies are messy and you just never know what will happen!

Pampers Wipes: These wipes are super soft. I like that we can use them for diaper changes but they’re also gentle enough to use on the kids’ faces and hands. If you buy wipes in bulk, these cases are good to refill & keep in the diaper bag.

Changing Mat: This is the ultimate baby changing station! The convenient travel changing pad clutch features a wipe-clean, zip-off changing pad, built-in pillow, and translucent wipes case for timely refills. The large mesh pocket of the baby changing station holds up to four diapers plus creams and other essentials, while the front zippered pocket is perfect for keys, cell phone or other personal items. You can throw this into the diaper bag or just take this changing mat with you for quick trips out of the house with the baby.

Wet Bags: I love having an empty wet bag in my diaper bag to have somewhere to put dirty clothes until we get home.

myBaby On-the-Go Sound Machine: I LOVE this thing! Audrey uses a sound machine in her room for naps and bedtime and she really loves it. It is so nice to have a smaller version for when she’s napping while we’re out. We use it at church almost every week!

Hand Sanitizer: I always have some kind of sanitizer with me. Either for me or the boys. Whatever we can do to keep our hands clean until we can get to a sink.

Onesies: Again- babies are messy. You definitely need extra clothes. I like to keep the extra outfit simple so I just pack onesies and leggings.

Burp Cloth: I pack at least 2 clean burp cloths in the diaper bag in addition to the one I have on my shoulder at all times. Audrey is a big-time spitter so we go through these very quickly!

Diaper trash bags: These are great for dirty diapers, obviously. But they’re also perfect for wet or dirty clothes.

Muslin Swaddle Blankets: I love these lightweight muslin swaddle blankets because they are so versatile. I use them as a blanket, as a nursing cover, or even as something for Audrey to lay. They are so soft and HUGE! They’re my fav.

WubbaNub Paci: Audrey doesn’t take a paci but that doesn’t mean I don’t try! If she’s fussy and I cannot feed her, I will try to soothe her with a pacifier. She doesn’t suck on it but she will chew on it and that comforts her for a bit.

Milk Snob Carseat Cover: Aside from the diapers and wipes, this is probably the most used item in my newborn diaper bag. We kept Audrey covered with this anytime we went out with her for the first several weeks. I love that it’s lightweight and breathable. I use this for a breastfeeding cover all the time and I love it!

Of course every baby is different and has different needs but I hope this is helpful when you are packing your newborn diaper bag! What are some of your must-haves for the newborn diaper bag?
