Audrey’s Dol | Korean Frist Birthday

Last weekend we celebrated Audrey’s First Birthday with family and friends. I went back and forth on if we were going to have a party for her but Abe decided he absolutely wanted her to have a party. So, in about 2.5 weeks, we threw together the sweetest little party for our girl.

We didn’t do any of the Korean First Birthday traditions for the boys but I really wanted to incorporate some for Audrey’s party. My amazing, super patient friend, Jane, helped me SO much with this. She made the towers and ordered the rice cakes. And Jane and her husband Kevin helped set up the table. They both were such a huge help and this party wouldn’t have come together like it did without them! Thanks, guys!!

These adorable cookies came from The Cookie Biz. She did such a great job on these cookies. They were such a hit at the party and tasted absolutely amazing! Please reach out to The Cookie Biz for your next event!

One thing I was really looking forward to was the Doljabi. The Doljabi is a tradition where the child is placed in front of various objects and then encouraged to grab for one of them. The object they select is supposed to represent their future career or lifestyle.

For Audrey, we set out a calculator (entrepreneur), pencil (teacher), stethoscope (physician), money (wealth), and a spoon (chef).  After 2.5 minutes she finally decided on the pencil!

I cannot thank Jane enough for all of her help! This party was so special and wouldn’t have come together without her. I am so thankful for your friendship, Jane!
