The Best Podcasts for Kids

We spend a lot of time in the car each week. To and from school, after-school activities, and running errands together, the kids and I are in the car a lot. I try to be mindful of what we are listening to and I also felt pretty burnt out listening to music. So we started listening to podcasts for kids.

I mentioned before how much I enjoy listening to podcasts for me, so I was pretty excited when I came across a podcast geared towards kids! After a couple years of listening to podcasts for kids, I have found some shows that my boys really love that I actually enjoy listening to, too!

Whether you are going on a long road trip, or you just need something to listen to on the drive to school, I’ve got you covered. Today I am sharing the best podcasts for kids.

THE BEST PODCASTS FOR KIDS

  1. Stories Podcast: This is the most played podcast in my car. Each week, a new story is performed. Stories range from retelling fairy tales, classic stories, and even original stories. I love that all stories are rated G so both Connor and Noah (and Audrey, too!) can listen.
  2. Storynory- Stories for Kids: This is another story podcast (obviously!) that we listen to a bunch. Another option for fairy tales, poems, myths, and adventure.
  3. But Why: A Podcast for Curious Kids: The boys absolutely love this one! But Why answers kids questions, big and small, each week.
  4. Brains On! Science Podcast for Kids: Each week a different kid scientist co-hosts the show looking for answers to questions about the world.
  5. Story Pirates: This podcast is done by actors, comedians, improvisers, and musicians who adapt stories written by kids into sketch comedy and musical theater.
  6. The Past and The Curious: A history podcast for kids.
  7. Chompers: 4 Minute Podcasts to listen to while brushing teeth! Listen to jokes, riddles, stories, fun facts, silly songs, and more while your kiddos brush their teeth. This podcast will encourage your younger kids to brush their teeth for the full two minutes as the dentist recommends. If you read my Amazon Echo Dot review, you know we use Alexa while brushing teeth. But, if you don’t have Alexa, this is a great option.

We mainly listen to podcasts in the car but that doesn’t have to be the only place to play a podcast. One of the great things about podcasts is you can listen from anywhere at any time. Turn on a podcast to get your children to take a break from screen time or while you’re cooking dinner together. Or listen to a relaxing podcast before bedtime to get everyone calm and ready to sleep.

Podcasts are really great for the whole family. And there are so many options available. You will definitely find one that everyone will enjoy listening to.

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!

Do your kids listen to podcasts? Did I forget to mention one of your favorites? We’re always looking for new shows to add to our library so comment below the name of a podcast you like to listen to with your kids.

I love this idea! I have a few kids CDs (I know old school) in my car that we listen to, but I didn’t realize they had podcasts for kids. I will have to try these out – thanks for sharing!
