Audrey turns one at the end of this month (holy cow. How?!) and I am in full-on party planning mode. Along with party planning, I am also trying to figure out the perfect birthday gift for our birthday girl. We already have a lot of toys in the playroom from the boys. But Audrey doesn’t have very many of her own, age-appropriate toys. I have spent a bit of time researching and looking for fun but also practical toys for toddlers and have found some really good options. If you are also looking for the perfect gift for a one-year-old, I’ve got you covered! Today I am sharing my first birthday gift guide.

FIRST BIRTHDAY GIFT GUIDE
Jumbo Knob Puzzles: These jumbo puzzles are awesome. I love that they have just a few pieces so that your new toddler won’t get overwhelmed. The large knob on each piece makes it easy for your baby to hold on to and put in its spot. We have had tons of these over the years and they all hold up really well.
Activity Center: I love playsets like these because they really do last a long time! My boys will even play with this with Audrey and they are 5 and 8! There are so many activities built into this play center that your baby will love!
Soft Foam Play Set: This is such a good first birthday gift option. Probably one of my favorites! Audrey got this from my parents and she loves it! She crawls all over it and has the best time. We turn the wedge piece on its side use it as a slide and she loves it! We play with this set on top of our foam mat to keep things extra safe. UPDATE: Audrey is now almost 4 and she still plays with these foam blocks. They are a big hit when we have friends over, too.
Nesting Blocks: This is another toy that both of my boys loved to play with! It held up really well with the two boys building the stack of blocks high and then knocking them down over and over again so I know it is really sturdy. I love that it packs away in a small little cube so it doesn’t take up a bunch of space.
Classic Pop Up Toy: You cannot go wrong with this classic toy as a first birthday gift. We have this toy at my parent’s house and it has been a favorite of all the kids year after year!
Plush Princess Playset: Audrey got this set for Christmas and it is so adorable! I love that it is soft and plush so she can’t get hurt by it. Of course, she isn’t into pretend play just yet but I know she will be soon and this set is just too cute!
Shape Sorter: This is another classic toy that would make a really great gift for a one-year-old.
3 in 1 Ride on Car: Both of my boys had one of these and loved them so much! We would push them all around the neighborhood. This 3 in 1 car is a stroller, walking car, and a ride-on car. It has a removable stroller handle, footrest, and hand bars, and has a horn sound.
Mega Blocks: Blocks are such a good toy for this age. Toddlers are working hard on developing their fine motor skills through everyday activities, especially during play. These big building blocks are the perfect toy for toddlers to develop these skills.
Princess Horse and Carriage: Your little one will feel like royalty on this magical Little Tikes Princess Horse & Carriage ride-on! It has a handle for parents to push or pull the carriage and a removable floorboard for when the child is young. As your child grows it converts to a foot-to-floor ride-on toy.
Doll House: Can’t go wrong with a dollhouse!
Egg Sorter: This is a really, really good learning toy. This set comes with 12 eggs with different colors and shapes. Your baby will work on opening the eggs and pushing the 2 halves of the eggs back together themselves. It teaches colors and enhances fine motor skills. We love this toy!
Splash pad: If the first birthday is during the warmer months, this splash pad would be so much fun! We love this shallow wading pool and water sprinkler! I have this post with fun outdoor toys for summer that you might be interested in, too!
Slide: My boys loved this slide so much! We used it inside, outside, put it into a baby pool and so much more! It is such a good staple for a house with toddlers!
Tunnel: This was a suggestion from a friend of mine and she was so right! This is such a great idea for a first birthday gift idea. There are tons of ways to play with this tunnel but even simply rolling it out in the living room and letting your baby crawl through it over and over, they will love it! Add some balls and your baby will love it! I love that this collapses into a small ring for easy storage.
I hope this first birthday gift guide was helpful!
I discovered you on a Google search “baby products I can’t live without.” Your post about all I really need is onsies and diapers, and later remember Amazon prime is only a click away, was such an encouragement! Researching baby things while I’m 6 months pregnant is fun but can be overwhelming. Thank you! Can’t wait to keep following your different posts and tips. Btw love the horse and carriage you shared here! Baby is definitely getting this when she is old enough!
My daughter turned 1 last March, she is growing more curious by the day. I got her these personalised animal focused alphabet and monkey focused counting books that has her name on it. She loves it a lot and always want me to read it with her. In case you’re wondering, I got it from personalisedchildrensbooks.com ❤️
