Last week was loooong & totally kicked my butt. So when Abe walked in the door at 6pm on Friday evening I sighed a big sigh of relief. Ahhh. The weekend is finally here!
Friday night we were really mellow. We just hung out at home. I finished watching Rich in Faith (while eating a giant slice of ice cream cake!) and the boys hung out watching tv & playing with their toys. Abe and I were in bed before 10pm. Super early night, especially for Abe.
Saturday morning Abe went out for a haircut & the boys and I headed to Dutch Bros for some coffee & blueberry muffins.
Late Saturday morning we went over to a local park to check out ParkFest. I saw a flyer for this event at the library last week. It sounded like a fun family day and I was surprised to see everything was going to be free. I told Connor about it earlier in the week and he was so stoked! All week long he asked “How many more days until the park festival, Mommy?”. We had a blast!!! The boys loved the bounce houses, ice cream & bike obstacle course. Abe and I were so blown away by all of the fun things the city offered for the families of Peoria. We will most definitely make it to the next one!
After a few hours at ParkFest we came home for a quick wardrobe change and then headed out the door again! The boys went with Abe to the gym and I went to the mall. I am in the process of a big closet clean out so I needed to grab a few things to replace what I am getting rid of. Even though my trip to the mall was quick, it was successful. Saturday night we went over to my cousin Bris house for her & her boyfriend Brandon’s birthday party. The boys played with Brandon’s son Brody & Abe and I had a chance to hang out with some family. It was a great night!
Sunday morning we allowed Noah to open his birthday gifts a day early. He was so excited to finally have Hungry, Hungry Hippos!
We bought him two other games – Count Your Chickens & Shelby’s Snack Shack. We played a few rounds of each game. The boys are really competitive and get frustrated when someone other than themselves win. So when we play games I try hard to encourage them to cheer each other on. It’s a work in progress.
Before going into church we snapped a quick photo of Noah in his Birthday tee.
After church we grabbed some lunch from Jersey Mikes and relaxed for a bit before Noah’s birthday dinner at Chili’s.
We met up with my brother and his family, my parents & my grandma for a little dinner to celebrate Noah turning 3. We don’t do parties every year for our kids but we still make sure to celebrate on a smaller scale with family.
Overall it was an amazing weekend…busy but with lots of family time. Just how I like it 🙂
Now, bring on Monday….
great recap. glad to see the boys had fun. happy birthday noah!
