Two Years

This Sunday will be Abe & I’s second wedding anniversary.

I thought it would be fun to share how we met and some photos of the beginning of our relationship!

So, back in 2009 Abe and I were both working at a hospital in Phoenix. He was finishing up his residency and I was working as a nurse assistant. The unit I worked on was very unique. We were a very tight group who really enjoyed each others company both at work and outside of the hospital.

One night in early April some of the night shift staff put together an evening out for drinks in Tempe. My friend Rikki and I went together. Shortly after meeting up with the group, Abe came over to introduce himself to us. Even though we both worked in pediatrics, Abe and I had never officially met. So, he introduced himself and right away I thought he was really sweet.

We decided to head over to another bar but because of our large group, we got spit up. After several phone calls and a cover charge paid to the wrong bar, Abe finally made it to the right location. He and I continued chatting, drinking, and dancing the rest of the night.

At the end of the night, he walked Rikki and I to her car where we exchanged phone numbers and said goodbye.

We met up for drinks the following weekend as our official first date, just the two of us. We had a great time together just talking and getting to know one another. I knew really early on that this guy was really special and I wanted to spend a lot of time with him.

We went on several dates together over the next couple months and he even planned the best birthday party for me!

The more time I spent with him, the more I realized I was really falling for him. In September of 2009 we went to our friends Jeanne & Brandon’s wedding. Our first of many weddings we would attend together as a couple.

In October I finally introduced him to my family. This was good timing because shortly after he met my dad we found out I was pregnant. The rest of our relationship as “boyfriend/girlfriend” went by really fast. Abe finished residency and took a job in Cottonwood, AZ while I continued to work at the hospital during my pregnancy.
Just 14 months after meeting, on June 19, 2010 we became parents to a super cute baby boy.

We settled in to life at home in Cottonwood with a brand new baby. Seeing him love and care for our son was the sweetest thing.

About 7 months later in January of 2011, with the help of Connor, Abe popped the question!

It was the sweetest, most perfect proposal! I was totally shocked!
Shortly after that, I quit my job at the hospital to become a full time stay at home mom. This was a really difficult decision for me because I loved my job & everyone I worked with, but I lived over 100 miles from the hospital now. It was too hard on me to make the drive two days a week. Looking back now, I am so glad we made that decision.
We got to spend more time together as a family.

I was also able to start planning our wedding!

Even though our relationship got serious really fast, I wouldn’t change a thing! I am so thankful for this man I get to call my husband.
Check out my next post for some fun photos from our wedding!
Thanks for stopping by!
