Happy National Picnic Day, Friends! Did you know that was a thing? I didn’t either…but it is!
The weather has been so beautiful lately making it the perfect time to pack up some lunch and head to the park for a family picnic. We recently had a picnic with my family and I was quickly reminded how much I really enjoy them! Eating lunch outside and watching my boys play frisbee together makes me so happy. And I especially love how easily picnics come together. All you have to do is pack up a lunch or some of your favorite snacks and a few other essentials and you’ll be set for a fun day with your special people.
Today I am sharing some of our favorite picnic essentials. These are the 6 items you need for the perfect picnic with your friends and family.

PICNIC ESSENTIALS

Picnic Basket: Obviously if you’re going to have a picnic, you need a picnic basket! Well, this basket is awesome! It is insulated to keep your food hot or cold for hours. It’s lightweight, collapsible and has a foldable handle. I love that it comes with a picnic blanket that securely stores to the top of the basket under elastic straps. The blanket has a waterproof backing to make sure you stay dry when sitting on the grass and a velcro strap to keep it folded up neatly.
Lunch Containers: These lunch containers are awesome because they are sectioned off so you can put your sandwich or wrap, fruit, and chips in the same container and everything will stay separated and fresh. They’re deep enough to put a salad or pasta in them instead of a sandwich if you wanted.
Ice Pack: We use these because they aren’t bulky and won’t take up a ton of space in the picnic basket.
Picnic Cutlery: Perfect set of utensils to keep in your picnic basket.
And of course, you will want to bring a few activities with you to your picnic.
Frisbee Ring: Our boys love this frisbee.
Football: A lightweight football is perfect for tossing around after lunch.
Playing Cards: We have been playing a lot of card games with the boys lately. Your next picnic is a great time to play some cards with your kids.
Another one of our favorite picnic essentials is a collapsible wagon. This isn’t totally necessary but depending on where you go and where you park, having the wagon to transport your picnic basket and a few toys can be really helpful. And if you don’t have one yet, get one! We use ours ALL.THE.TIME!! Park play dates, kids sporting events, bringing things to and from the house….we use it a ton!
I really hope this post was helpful and inspires you to get outside with your family! Springtime picnics are the perfect activity for making those special memories with your kiddos.
