Ahhh….Spring Break! No alarm clocks, no rushing around the house like a crazy person in the morning trying to get the kids fed & dressed & out the door, no 25 minute drive to school twice a day…..
As much as I was so looking forward to Spring Break, I was a little nervous about how we would fill our time & keep busy without the boys arguing with each other all day! It was a bit of a challenge but I think we had a pretty fun week! We didn’t do anything super exciting but we still had some moments of fun together!
Monday morning was spent getting caught up with laundry and running errands after being gone for the weekend. After getting a few loads of laundry done we ran a few errands making stops at Costco & Target. I allowed them each to pick out a movie. Noah decided on Paw Patrol & Connor picked The Good Dinosaur. I put on Connor’s choice when we got home & the boys played with their legos while we waited for my sweet friend Rikki to arrive! She was visiting from California and needed a place to stay for the night so we were lucky enough to host her for the evening! Rikki and I haven’t seen each other since she moved back to California in 2012 so we spent time catching up and just chatting!
First on the list of things to do Tuesday morning: get coffee! Starbucks iced coffee & breakfast sandwiches for the girls and milk & cake-pops for the boys! Then we popped into a store next door for the boys to (finally!) get their hair cut!
We took Rikki over to the new house later in the morning! It’s fun to see the house look different each time I go out there & it’s even more fun to show it to someone for the first time. We walked all through the house and I just dreamed of having Rikki back when it was all finished! She definitely won’t have to sleep on the couch when she comes back 😉
Shortly after getting home, Rikki had to leave 🙁 We were all sad to see her go but hope she comes back really soon!
Wednesday morning we had some more (not so fun) errands to run. First up was an oil change. After dropping off my car we walked over to….you guessed it…Starbucks. The boys ate their yogurt and I drank my iced coffee as we waited on my car. ((It’s really hard to get a good picture of both boys looking at me 🙁 ))
The boys were REALLY into watching The Price is Right while we waited haha!
After the oil change we came home to play with the new Play Town sets by Play-Doh. The boys would play with Play-Doh for hours if they could. I really love the things they create and the stories they come up with to go along with it. This is an activity that they do together really nicely & it makes me so happy! The mess after is so worth the learning & creating that is going on.
After Play-Doh we went over to Cari’s house for lunch & St. Patricks Day crafts! The boys got in some practice for their boy band 😉 …
Ate a quick lunch…
And started working on their craft! I found this cute idea on Pinterest, of course. To make it a little easier we used orange paper plates (instead of painting them) and I cut everything out ahead of time so the boys just had to glue the pieces in place.
I think they turned out super cute!
The boys looked really cute as little Leprechauns 🙂
We sent the boys outside to play for a bit before heading back home.
More Play-Doh time while I made dinner.
See what I mean about trying to get a good photo of both boys looking at me?! Ugh.
On Thursday we got to have my nephew Gavin over for the day! The boys were super happy to have him over and they wasted no time getting busy! They started with hockey in the hallway. Gav is pretty obsessed with hockey and he was super sweet to show his cousins how to hold the stick and hit the puck!
We made a quick stop at Target. Gav showed Noah how to play a hockey game on the Xbox 🙂
When we got back home Cari dropped off her 2 boys while she went to a work meeting. I was now alone with 5 boys! Quick…to the park!
Since it was St. Patricks Day I thought it would be fun to do a few activities to celebrate. The first (and only) one we did was a sorting & graphing activity using Lucky Charms marshmallows. C has been doing a lot of these types of activities at school so I thought he would enjoy it. The 2 older boys did great and were really into it!
The younger two were just happy to eat marshmallows 🙂
And for some reason, when one of the boys had to pee…they all had to pee. I have not figured out why peeing in the rocks is so fun? But whatev…it’s one of the benefits of having boys 😉
I more than survived my time of being in charge of 5 boys…it was actually surprisingly easy & fun!
That afternoon we went over to my parents house to celebrate my dads birthday! The kids played, had dinner, sang Happy Birthday to Papa, and ate cupcakes. Perfect evening!
I woke up on Friday morning a little sad that Spring Break was coming to an end. But, I pulled myself together because Connor had an appointment with his neurologist. ((He has been experiencing some extreme fatigue that I feel needs to be addressed. I’ll fill you all in soon as to what all has been going on with Connor’s health.))
Before the appointment Connor and I had a quick lunch date together, just him and I.
He has become a very cooperative patient- sitting still for vitals and even lending a hand to the doctor 😉
We got an email from our salesperson for the new house on friday afernoon with a photo of the progress. Looking good! Hopefully we get to move in soon….hopefully.
There you have it…our first official Spring Break was wonderful. Not too busy & lots of moments of fun with the boys. I will say, this week did make me a little nervous (how am I going to entertain these guys all day?) but super excited (tons of free time!) for summer break which is just right around the corner!
I hope you all had a great Spring Break 2016 and I wish you all a very Happy Easter!
