We are now one month into the new school year and the amount of assigned homework is definitely picking up! Having both boys in school this year requires me to be extra organized. Creating this designated homework station has been helpful in managing the stress that homework time can bring. The boys know exactly where to go to get started on their homework each afternoon. Having a homework station also helps to keep them on task since all of their supplies are in one spot. No more getting up from the table a million times to look for different materials in an attempt to stall homework time.
Today I am sharing with you our homework station setup and some of the supplies we keep in this space. This space is organized, works well for preschool through upper elementary-aged kids, and is super easy to set up.

OUR HOMEWORK STATION
Desk | Chair | Cork Board | Alarm Clock | Pencil Cups
Desk and Chair Set | Simple Desk
SUPPLIES TO KEEP AT YOUR HOMEWORK STATION
- Pencils, Presharpened Pencils, pencil sharpener, erasers, and pens in a few pencil cups
- Crayons, markers, and colored pencils in a large pencil box
- Glue sticks
- Scissors
- Notecards, hole puncher, and metal rings for making flashcards. If you need to laminate your flashcards, this thermal laminator is really great.
- Extra notebooks and lined paper
We use the corkboard to hang Noah’s sight words and phonogram cards as well as any flashcards that Connor has made to study with. The boys change this out each week to match what they are working on in class.
Chromebook: Connor has reached the age where some of his assigned homework needs to be typed. He has also had a couple of research projects. We realized he needed his own computer and went with this one. It’s easy to use and is one of the more affordable options.
Headphones: We bought the boys these headphones to use when they’re having Zoom calls.
If you are feeling stressed out with your current homework routine or you have school supplies scattered all around, I encourage you to set up a homework station in your house.
I hope this was helpful!
