First Grade Lately

In keeping with my theme this week (baby girl on Monday and Noah on Wednesday) I figured I better give you an update on Connor, too! 🙂

The last part of last semester was a busy one. We had the Fall Festival, Grandparents Day, and the Winter Music Concert.

The Fall Festival was so much fun. The boys played lots of games and did quite a bit of bouncing in the bounce houses. It’s always a good time to be outside enjoying a fun day with Connor’s classmates and their families. I cannot say enough how much I love the community at Connor’s school!

We finished up the day with a stop at the ice cream truck and a super adorable moment of the boys holding hands…totally on their own! I love these moments of them being so kind and loving towards each other!

Grandparents day is a special day at Connor’s school. The grandparents get invited to the classroom to see what the kids have been working on. Connor and his classmates recited a couple poems they have learned. Then the grandparents and kiddos get to enjoy snacks together in the commons. It’s a sweet day and Connor has been lucky enough to have his Great Grandma in town each year.

This year was Connor’s first year participating in music class. I have always said Connor was dancing before he could walk and singing before he could talk…the kid loves music! I was so excited for him to have music class this year. He raved about his music teacher so we were really looking forward to his first music concert!

Connor and his classmates did so well! I was so impressed with what they had learned during their semester in music class! I already can’t wait to see how they do next year!

We had our Parent-Teacher conference last week. Connor is doing really well in school. His teacher said that he is very friendly and is a joy to have in the class. She said when students feel that things are very tense or serious in the classroom, Connor has a silly comment to make everyone laugh and bring some lightness into the class. That does not surprise me one bit! Since transitioning from an IEP to a 504 plan, Connor has really shown a lot of growth and maturity. Although we don’t always see this at home, we are so thankful that Connor is doing so well at school.

We are looking forward to a busy and exciting final semester of first grade!
