Easter Weekend 2017

I hope you all had a great Easter Weekend!

Ours was very low key. My parents were just getting back from a vacation in Cabo and preparing for her surgery (it’s today! Pray for her, please!) so we kinda let them have a mellow weekend.

Both of the boys had Good Friday off so they came with me to my last (for now, at least) ultrasound. This was the first time Noah has been to an ultrasound appointment so I was super excited for him to see his sister. The tech got all the measurements she needed and then was so kind to switch the ultrasound over to 4D for us. Noah loved seeing his sister look “golden” and asked if that’s how she was going to look in real life. 🙂 I was blown away, as always, with the crazy detail we could see. Her sweet eyes, nose and mouth! I just cannot wait to have that sweet girl in my arms.

Earlier in the week Abe sent me a text that he got a date night set up for us! Babysitter & reservations were taken care of! I was so excited to hear he was taking me to a restaurant I have been wanting to try every since our friends Kevin & Jane told us about their beignets! We haven’t had a date night in a long time so I was reallly looking forward to this!

The food was so yummy! We tried the Dirty Rice Balls and Mac & Cheese for our appetizer. I got Fried Chicken and Abe got Chicken and Dumplings. All of it was so yummy. And of course the beignets for dessert were AMAZING! So warm and fluffy and covered in powdered sugar.

After date night we still had Easter Eggs to stuff and baskets to fill! I didn’t go too crazy with their Easter baskets this year because everything I could think to put in there (play-doh, bubbles, chalk, lego sets, swim suit) they already have plenty of. I don’t like to fill the baskets with just candy so the boys got a new bubble gun, books, a small lego set & just a couple pieces of candy. They look pretty sad & empty but the boys were super excited to see what the Easter Bunny brought them.

Easter morning the boys had a quick egg hunt in the house before we got ready for church. I wasn’t feeling the greatest so after Easter service we came home for naps/quiet time. I eventually got up to take care of a few things to help us be better prepared for the week ahead but it wasn’t long before I crawled back into bed.

I’ve been fighting a small, annoying headache the past 3 days & I’m really hoping it’ll pass soon.

As I mentioned earlier, my mom is having surgery today. Not sure how much detail she wants out there but if you could please keep her in your prayers we would really appreciate it. She’ll likely be in the hospital for a few days and have a couple months of recovery at home before returning back to work and feeling like herself. I’ll keep you updated as I can.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend with their family! I can’t believe it’s almost May…this year is flying by.
