Lite- Brite | A Fine Motor Activity For Preschoolers

Today I am sharing a really fun and easy fine motor activity for preschoolers.

FINE MOTOR ACTIVITY FOR PRESCHOOLERS

I can’t even begin to express the excitement that came over me when Connor’s occupational therapist suggested we get him a Lite-Brite to use for fine motor practice! I have some of the best memories as a child at my babysitter’s house playing with the old school Lite-Brite. That very day Connor’s therapist suggested we buy one, I got on Amazon and ordered him one of my very favorite childhood toys!

When it arrived a few days later, I ripped it out of the box and we got started playing with this baby right away! While the design of the Lite-Brite is very different, it was just as much fun as I remember!

This is such a great activity to help strengthen Connor’s hands and improve his grasp. We found that the first couple of times it was too difficult for Connor to use the templates. So we just pushed the pegs directly into the screen without using a pattern. After a few times, he got the hang of how to push harder to get the peg to go through the paper and stay in place on the screen. Connor had a lot of fun creating his own designs as well as using the patterns that were included.

I love that we can make our own patterns and match the colors of the pegs, as well!
