Back to School Shopping

We only have 2 weeks left of summer break! I have no idea where the time went but here we are getting ready to start school! I usually have our back to school shopping done by now but I swear this summer is going by faster than I can keep up with!

So my goal today is to share awesome deals on school uniforms and shoes and to also complete my back to school shopping!

BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING

UNIFORMS

When shopping for uniforms for my boys, I stick to two stores: Gap and Old Navy. From now until July 27th, Gap is offering 50% off all uniforms with the code RECESS. Old Navy also has awesome deals on their uniforms with no code necessary.

For uniform shirts, I recommend buying at least 5 shirts per child. One shirt per day means you only have to do laundry once a week. I also recommend you don’t buy only white uniform shirts. White obviously stains easily but it also fades and looks dirty quicker than colored shirts.

For my boys, I buy 6 shirts each. Five of them are blue and only one is white. The blue shirts the boys wear daily. And I save the white shirts for special occasions like picture day or if they have a presentation.

Shop here for 50% off all uniforms with code RECESS.

SHOES

Back to School Shopping | www.thisfamilee.com

My boys are required to wear all black, low top sneakers or dress shoes to school. You won’t believe how hard it can be to find completely black shoes without one stitch of color on the shoe, logo, or sole. While there isn’t a huge variety of shoes that meet the criteria, thankfully I have found a good selection that meets the dress code and that my boys like. I like to shop for the boys shoes here because they have good pricing and offer free shipping and returns. And they always ship really fast!

Adidas X PLR: Not only do these shoes meet the schools’ requirement (not a drop of color anywhere on these shoes!) they meet mamas requirements, too! These are incredibly comfortable and light-weight with breathable textile lining. I love the easy “speed lacing system with toggle” because the boys don’t need to tie them. I’m sure the teachers also appreciate not having to retie the shoes throughout the day.

Adidas Swift Run: These are the shoes Connor wore all last year and they are still in amazing condition! I really like the “bootie construction” and slip-on style with adjustable lace-up closure for an adjustable fit. These are the shoes I will buy for him again for this school year. And the only reason why I am buying a new pair (instead of wearing the same shoes from last year) is that I like the kids to start the school year with new shoes. They only wear their school shoes to school so his shoes from last year will now be his “play” shoes. Does that make sense?

Adidas U_Path Run J: These have a lateral lace-up closure with a stretchy strap across vamp. And a stretch collar with elastic heel tab. Use code BDAY20 for an extra 20% off.

Nike Revolution: Another shoe option that the kids don’t have to tie. Noah wore these the past several school years and he always liked them. The padded tongue and collar provide comfort against foot. And the midsole delivers lightweight cushioning and a natural feel for all-day play.

Nike Star: These have elasticized laces with hook-and-loop fastener at the top.

Converse

Ugg Sneakers: These have built-in arch support and a layer of foam for breathable, moisture-wicking, antimicrobial cushioning. Use code BDAY20 for an extra 20% off making these shoes under $25!

Polo Ralph Lauren Easten: These have a really clean, classic look. They also come in white if your school allows white. I think these would look adorable on a little girl with her school uniform.

Mary Jane: I don’t have any experience with these shoes but the reviews sound great. You can select your width to ensure a comfortable fit. They have a cushioned memory foam footbed and a shock-absorbing traction outsole for all-day comfort.

As for socks, I prefer the boys to wear black socks with their black shoes. I think it looks better and they won’t show stains or dirt from playing all day. We buy these socks and they hold up well to all of the rough boy play.

Girls are allowed to wear black, blue, or white socks, knee-highs, or leggings at our school.

I hope this helps as you start your back to school shopping! Enjoy your last few weeks of summer…the start of school is right around the corner!
