Last Friday morning Cari and I loaded up our kiddos (and lots of coffee) and headed out to the Phoenix Zoo. I’m not a super huge fan of the Zoo but being outside on a gorgeous Spring day in Phoenix is so, so good for my soul! The weather was absolutely gorgeous so I was all for getting outside to walk around for a bit.
If you plan to visit the Phoenix Zoo let me give you a few invaluable tips:
1. Bring lots & lots (AND LOTS) of snacks! They let you bring in anything you want, including coolers. This is helpful for a couple different reasons:
*Keeps the kids happy! Noah ate an entire snack bag of blueberries, tons of crackers, and half a sandwich in the first hour we were there. Anytime he would start to get fussy in the stroller, I’d just hand him some more food and he was happy. Connor ate some crackers and half of a sandwich. I also brought us each a bottle of water but wish I would have brought more.
*Snacks inside the zoo are expensive! Like, a large bottle of water was almost $5! That’s insane! Last time we went to the zoo I didn’t know they allowed food so we just bought lunch there. Not only was it expensive, it was pretty disgusting, too!
2. Bring a bathing suit or change of clothes for the kids. I totally forgot they have a splash pad there but luckily I packed an extra set of clothes for Connor. I love splash pads. So much more fun than a pool at this age. It was the perfect activity for Connor to run off some extra energy and cool down at the same time.
3. Wear tennis shoes. Obviously you will be doing a lot of walking and you will want some comfy shoes. I wore flip flops and regretted it every step of the way. They were fine, comfortable even, but I hate having dusty feet. Bleh!
4. Sunscreen! Even though it wasn’t blistering hot, you still have to protect your skin!
We had a really great time & I am looking forward to our next trip! The kids did great and seemed to really enjoy it. Here are some more photos from our day at the Phoenix Zoo.
Cari is super mom, obviously!
I love this picture of Cari getting Connor to laugh & act like a monkey 🙂
And of course, all three boys passed out about 5 seconds into our drive home!
Thanks for checking out our trip to the Phoenix Zoo!
Talk to you soon,
Renae
why are you not a super huge fan of the zoo? is it because it feels like prison for animals?
Lol yeah, i guess.
