1 Year Blog Anniversary

How is it possible that it has already been a year since I relaunched my bog? It definitely doesn’t feel like that much time has passed! Does anyone else feel like you just blink for a second and all of a sudden it’s a year later?!

There have been so many awesome things that happened on this blogging journey over the past 12 months and I have learned so much. Some of the things I have learned are fun things like how to create beautiful, attention-grabbing images for Pinterest. And some of the things I learned were a little more challenging like how to best manage my time while working from home with a toddler and two very busy boys.

This is such a special milestone to me and I am so excited to be celebrating my 1 year blog anniversary with you all this week!

1 YEAR BLOG ANNIVERSARY

1 Year Blog Anniversary | www.thisfamilee.com

Early last year I made the decision to move this blog in a slightly different direction. Sharing photos of my kids and what our family was up to was fun, but I really wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to learn more about what went into putting together a beautiful, engaging blog post. I wanted to learn the “behind the scenes” aspect of a successful blog. And the business part of blogging has always been so intriguing to me.

I wanted to take this blog from a fun little hobby and turn it into an actual job that would eventually earn an income. I knew this wasn’t going to be easy and I knew I had a ton to learn about blogging. But I set some goals for myself and I got to work.

One year later I can honestly say this has been the best thing I have done for myself. Investing in this change, both with my time as well as financially, has allowed me to be more creative and has brought me so much joy.

I’m not sure how much you know about blogging, but putting together a blog post is very involved. What are you going to write about? Will you need professional photos or will stock images do? Did you book a photographer? Who is going to be in the photos and what is each person going to wear? Where will you take the photos and at what time? Do you need props or other items for the shoot? How will you pay for the props, outfits, photographer, stock images, etc.? When are you going to write the post? And how are you going to promote the blog post to ensure that it is seen by someone other than your mom and your best friend?

Guys, There are a lot of details! But I am a detail person. I really, really enjoy this part of blogging. I am a big fan of checklists and an even bigger fan of crossing things off the checklist. So, from the very beginning of visualizing a blog post to planning each and every detail of it, crossing off completed tasks as I go, to then seeing the end product; THAT makes me feel accomplished. And creative. And it brings me joy.

Of course, there were a few moments that I questioned what the heck I was doing. There were times I would feel guilty for spending time on the blog instead of my family. And when the numbers weren’t where I wanted them to be, I considered giving up. But then I would receive a message from a reader about how one of my blog posts helped her or gave her a new way to connect with her child that she hadn’t thought of before. Those messages really encourage me. Knowing that I can support and encourage other moms through my blog posts; that means so much to me and reminds me exactly why I am doing this.

Thank you so much for all of your support over the past year. It has been an incredible 12 months!

I have set even bigger goals for myself and even though I still have so much to learn, I am so excited to see what happens over the next year. I hope you’ll stick around to see how it all unfolds.
